section five- 100 years war
  1. The Black death was a plague that killed almost 1/3 of the population.
  2. The time of the Black Death were very unhealthy and unclean times.
  3. waste was dumped into gutter and the rats ate the waste so the rats picked up the disease and passed it to people
  4. Some entire villages and towns were wiped out by this plague
  5. During the Black Plague many peasants staged uprisings because there were so few of them to do the work they could demand more money
Section 4
  1. vernacular languages-languages spoken everyday that varied from place to place
  2. Troubadours-traveling singeres whoh wrote poems about love and chivalry
  3. Dante Alighieri- was a medieviel writer, wrote THE DIVINE COMEDY
  4. Geoffrey Chaucer- medevil writer that wrote THE CANTERBURY TALES, a group of stories from the view of the pilgrims.
  5. scholastcism-attempt to bring together faith and reason
  6. Peter Abeland-a philosopher of scholasticism taught in Paris in 1100.
  7. Thomas Aquinas-a monk of the Dominican order, the greatest medievil philosopher
  8. Gothic-a word for a style unliked, taken from the barbarian Goths
Section 5-
  1. In 1328 the last male member of Frances Capetian dynasty died.
  2. Edward III clained the French throne.
  3. In 1337 Edward brought an army to Flanders hoping to gain control of this rich trading area
  4. The Hundred Year War lasted for 116 years
  5. by 1453 France controlled all of Englands French lands except Calais
  6. Many new weapons were introduced during this war such as the long bow,gun powder, and cannons.
  7. Castle walls no longer protected the kings from danger because of all the new weapons
  8. Besides lost of land the Hundred Year War, parliment gained more power over the king
  9. by the late 1300's the kibng needed Parliments consent on all special taxes
