Aladura

Date founded:1918-1930
Place founded: West Nigeria
Founder: various
Adherents: approximately 1 million

In Nigeria, about 1918, the Aladura movement began. This religion was started by younger people of the Christian community and based on dissatisfaction with Western religious forms, European control of the churches, lack of spiritual power, and literature.
Aladura practices are a mix of Anglican and African rituals. In the Church of the Lord, ministers are given an iron rod about two and a half feet long, with their insignia of office. It symbolizes the powers of the prophet. A prophet touches the objects brought by people who come for prayers and healing sessions. Rosaries are used to pray the psalms. Vestments and gowns are widely used.

Caesar Augustus (Gaius Octavius )also know as Octavian

I have claimed power. Marching into Rome and forcing the senate to me consul was much easier then I thought it would be. Now that I am established though, I am not a force to be reckoned with, and all shall now my name and fear it. I plan to form a Triumvirate and restore peace, and keep it. My plans are fool proof and I shall suceed.      Triumvirate shall be formed by myself, Marcus Antonius, and Marcus Lepidus and we shall launch a purge of those allied with the assassins. We shall make it so the time of war in Rome is over and we shall make it so that all have a feeling of sercurity and safety. There shall be no more war when we are finished.
Antonius and I have marched against Brutus and Cassius, who has fled to the east and at Philippi in Macedonia the Caesarian army was victorious and Brutus and Cassius committed suicide. I shall return to Rome, while Antonius goes on to Egypt. Here he shall ally himself with Queen Cleopatra, the ex-lover of Julius Caesar and mother of Caesar's infant son Caesarion. The Roman dominions shall be divided between myself in the west and Antonius in the east.
After Actium, I have my work cut out for me; years of civil war has left Rome in a state of near-lawlessness. Moreover, Rome is not prepared to accept the control of a despot. I am very clever though. First, I shall disband my armies, and hold elections. I shall be chosen for the powerful position of Consul, the highest executive office of the Republic. I shall officially return power to the Senate of Rome, and offer to relinquish my own military supremacy and hegemony over Egypt. but instead of turning me down, Senate also gave me control of Spain, Gaul, and Syria. Shortly thereafter, the Senate gave me the name "Augustus".
As you can tell my plans are panning out very well and Rome is returning to peace. I have also gained control of many places and destoryed many enemies of the Roman empire. I shall continue to better the roman Empire through out my life so that I can make everyones life better.

My Thoughts
I think that Augustus did many things to help better the Roman Empire. Creating the Triumvirate was a very good decsion because together they destoryed some of Romes worst enemies making it easier to restore peace. Once peace was restored he managed to keep ir for almost a hundred years. This was a great time for Rome because before they were in a bad time of civil war but Augustus helped restore peace so that they could make life better for the Roman Empire.
