Aladura

Date founded:1918-1930
Place founded: West Nigeria
Founder: various
Adherents: approximately 1 million

In Nigeria, about 1918, the Aladura movement began. This religion was started by younger people of the Christian community and based on dissatisfaction with Western religious forms, European control of the churches, lack of spiritual power, and literature.
Aladura practices are a mix of Anglican and African rituals. In the Church of the Lord, ministers are given an iron rod about two and a half feet long, with their insignia of office. It symbolizes the powers of the prophet. A prophet touches the objects brought by people who come for prayers and healing sessions. Rosaries are used to pray the psalms. Vestments and gowns are widely used.

Caesar Augustus (Gaius Octavius )also know as Octavian

I have claimed power. Marching into Rome and forcing the senate to me consul was much easier then I thought it would be. Now that I am established though, I am not a force to be reckoned with, and all shall now my name and fear it. I plan to form a Triumvirate and restore peace, and keep it. My plans are fool proof and I shall suceed.      Triumvirate shall be formed by myself, Marcus Antonius, and Marcus Lepidus and we shall launch a purge of those allied with the assassins. We shall make it so the time of war in Rome is over and we shall make it so that all have a feeling of sercurity and safety. There shall be no more war when we are finished.
Antonius and I have marched against Brutus and Cassius, who has fled to the east and at Philippi in Macedonia the Caesarian army was victorious and Brutus and Cassius committed suicide. I shall return to Rome, while Antonius goes on to Egypt. Here he shall ally himself with Queen Cleopatra, the ex-lover of Julius Caesar and mother of Caesar's infant son Caesarion. The Roman dominions shall be divided between myself in the west and Antonius in the east.
After Actium, I have my work cut out for me; years of civil war has left Rome in a state of near-lawlessness. Moreover, Rome is not prepared to accept the control of a despot. I am very clever though. First, I shall disband my armies, and hold elections. I shall be chosen for the powerful position of Consul, the highest executive office of the Republic. I shall officially return power to the Senate of Rome, and offer to relinquish my own military supremacy and hegemony over Egypt. but instead of turning me down, Senate also gave me control of Spain, Gaul, and Syria. Shortly thereafter, the Senate gave me the name "Augustus".
As you can tell my plans are panning out very well and Rome is returning to peace. I have also gained control of many places and destoryed many enemies of the Roman empire. I shall continue to better the roman Empire through out my life so that I can make everyones life better.

My Thoughts
I think that Augustus did many things to help better the Roman Empire. Creating the Triumvirate was a very good decsion because together they destoryed some of Romes worst enemies making it easier to restore peace. Once peace was restored he managed to keep ir for almost a hundred years. This was a great time for Rome because before they were in a bad time of civil war but Augustus helped restore peace so that they could make life better for the Roman Empire.

Christmas in Bosnia

                                                               A Bosnian Christmas

KREMPITA
It will take you about 25-30 minutes to make, the best if made 1 day prior to serving
Mix 4 yolks and 5 table spoons of sugar, than add 6 table spoons of flower and 2 packets of vanilla sugar. Add about 150 ml of cold milk to the mix. Put 850 ml of milk and 1 butter stick (115grams) in deep dish and bring to boil.
Add egg mix to that boiling milk, decrease the heat to 3-4 (low medium). (must be low heat otherwise the bottom part will burn!) Beat 4 egg whites until solid cream and slowly add to milk-yolk mix and mix with mixer briefly. The cream should be smooth.
Place 'petite beure' biscuits in a square dish, pour hot cream on and lay another layer of biscuits on the top.
Serve cold with powder sugar.
It is so light and yummy.
Five Facts About Bosnian Christmas
1.)Trees in Bosnia are decorated with toys, chocolate, lights and colored balls and are traditionally topped with stars.
2.)The three Sundays that precede Christmas Eve, Detinjci, Materice and Ocevi, are dedicated to children, mothers and fathers.
3.)Bosnians celebrate Christmas Eve dinner with a traditional stuffed turkey. It is served with stuffed cabbage, spinach pie, beets, mayonnaise salad, and pita.
4.)It is Djeda Mraz, Grandfather Frost, who visits children and delivers their treats
5.)Sojikolac, chocolate nut cookies, and cake with white frosting to represent fresh snowfall are served for dessert.

The Education System in Brazil

The education system in brazil is similar to ours in certain ways. They have the law established that all kids must attend a school of some kind whether it being home school, public school, or boarding school. The Brazilian Educational System is also divided into three levels: fundamental, intermediate and higher education, the higher educatition being divided into two different levels: undergraduate and graduate. Preschool or infant education is added to this for the purpose of providing assistance to children under seven years of age unlike in America where we start school at ages four to six. Also Brazilian schools must have two hundred days of education a year.     The assessment of student achievement is defined in the school's internal regulations and includes learning evaluation expressed in grades by taking tests and attendance, the minimum requirement being 75% for both attendance and test scores. Also in Brazil to become a teacher you must only have three years of trainig while in America you must have five years of college.     For graduation all students that wish to graduate and continue on to graduate school must pass a test reviewing on everything taught through their years of school. While if you just wich to graduate and get a job you must just pass a test of what you have learned in under graduate school. These tests will also help decide what job field you are ment for and what graduate classes you should take in graduate school.
A typical day in undergraduate school in Brazil would consist of getting dressed, in uniform, and going to school. School in Brazil usually starts at 7 and go to noon when the children usually return home for lunch, which in Brazil is the most important meal of the day.
Math, geography, history, science, Portuguese, which is the national language of Brazil, and physical education are the main subjects studied by students in Brazil. Usually alot of the brazil schools are low on funds so music and art aren't usually included in a school day down there.

Day 7- Bihac

In Bihac and ready to go to the Muslim cemetery. Its our first stop today and it  was the quietest we've been so far this whole trip. As we walked through the cemetery you could only hear the stop crunch of the frosted grass and our slow steady breathing as we walked in the rows upon rows of head stones proclaiming names we couldn't pronounce. It was hard to walk and keep my eyes up because I felt so weird to be walking through a place of mourning and death have known absolutely no one there.
We didn't stay there very long but instead headed on to the river where once again we found our selves boating through the rapids and onto the beach about four miles from where we started. Not having had enough yet we toed the boat back up the trail to the starting point and went again. It was even better the h second time because we just floated down the river letting the current take use were it wanted.
After sunbathing for about an hour we headed out for the Fethija Mosque. Yes I do realize that I have visited a mosque in just about every city but each one is diffrent. This by far is my favorite of all. It is tall and very plain but it still has a story behind it that I am I wish I could stay to hear but we must go. Our plain leaves in two hours and we must return the rental car first.
Being Bosnia was quite a trip that I enjoyed very much and I wish to come back to Bosnia one day soon.
